SHARPEVILLE – What began as a desperate search for a missing woman has ended in shock after her decomposing body was discovered inside her boyfriend’s home in Sharpeville.
The 28-year-old woman, who had been missing for nearly a week, was found dead in a bedroom at the house where her boyfriend had earlier been discovered following an alleged suicide.
The shocking discovery was made by family members of the deceased boyfriend while they were cleaning the house in preparation for his funeral.
An unbearable stench coming from one of the bedrooms led them to the horrifying discovery.
In a statement, Sharpeville police spokesperson Sergeant Busisiwe Sango confirmed the incident.
“Sharpeville Police were summoned to a residence in Rooisten, Sharpeville. Upon arrival, the complaint alleged that family members were cleaning the house while preparing for the funeral of their nephew when they discovered the lifeless body of a female in one of the bedrooms,” said Sango.
She explained that the family initially noticed a strong, unpleasant smell coming from the room, prompting them to investigate further.
“The complaint further stated that they were preparing for the funeral of their nephew, who was also found dead earlier in the week in the same house, but in a different bedroom,” Sango added.
Police later established that the woman had been reported missing days earlier, with no one knowing her whereabouts.
“It is alleged that the deceased female was the girlfriend of the nephew. A case docket of inquest has been opened, and investigations are ongoing,” Sango said.
